ZiU-682G 97. Line 5, Moskovskaya-bound.
Trolleybus turns off the main Alyuminievaya Ul. line toward Yuzhniy Mikrorayon. As of the date of this photo Line 5 was routed in such a way that it detoured via apartment block developments of Yuzhniy Mikrorayon while en-route between Krasnogorskiy and Sinarskiy areas of the city. This effectively made it the longest trolleybus line, with running time up to 50 min one-way.

6-02. Kalinina Ul. / Kamenskaya Ul.
ZiU-682G 94. Line 5, Moskovskaya-bound.
Trolleybus passes the newest (and unused) at the time of this photo one-way line via Kamenskaya Ul. The line allows a short turn within Yuzhniy Mikrorayon for northbound trolleybuses via a lengthy one-way counterclockwise loop. It was opened in 1997 to substitute for the 49 Kvartlal conventional loop that acted as a terminal for Line 5 that ran between Pos. im. Chkalova and Yuzhniy Mikrorayon since 10.1978. The Kamenskaya Ul. line was in use between 1997 and early 2004, when upon joining of bus and trolleybus undertakings the routing scheme was optimized, and Line 5 became a through service between Krasnogorskiy and Sinarskiy areas of the city via Yuzhniy Mikrorayon.

Trolleybus loops around the Yuzhniy Mikrorayon neighborhood. When the Kamenskaya Ul. line was in use between 1997 and early 2004, the northbound wire via Kalinina Ul. and Oktyabrskaya Ul. (on the right) briefly fell out of use. As of the date of this photo, the dual-way use of the line via Oktyabrskaya Ul. was reinstated just a few months ago.

6-04. Oktyabrskaya Ul. / Chelyabinskaya Ul.
VMZ-170 11. Line 5, Posyolok im. Chkalova-bound.
Trolleybus passes the former 49 Kvartal Loop that was used by Line 5 Posyolok im. Chkalova - 49 Kvartal between 1978 and 1997. The loop fell out of use as the Kamenskaya Ul. one-way line was built in 1997, and Line 5 was sent circling around the neighborhood via a lengthy one-way loop. When the Suvorova Ul. line opened and Line 3 Moskovskaya - Yuzhniy Mikrorayon was introduced in 11.1996, the Yuzhniy Mikrorayon Loop was built literally 20 m north of 49 Kvartal Loop, in the middle of the intersection in the background of this photo. For a brief period between 1996 and 1997, Line 5 approached this intersection from the south, while Line 3 approached from the north. Both services utilized separate loops, but technically did not intersect. There was a southbound-only connection between the two lines.

The overhead switch for the remaining loop is still visible on the right. The loop is a simple 180-degree turnaround in the middle of the intersection, around the median of boulevard-like Suvorova Ul.

The newest as of the date of this photo trolleybus in the city leaves the Torgoviy Tsentr (the Shopping Mall) Stop that became a focal point and the most-used stop in the relatively new sizeable apartment block development of Yuzhniy Mikrorayon. The demand for transportation here exceeds the service provided, thus trolleybuses serving Line 5 run through the area perpetually full to capacity.

Also in the background is the traffic rotary at the mouth of the Baynovskiy Bridge, a diverging point for the city's main Alyuminievaya Ul. trolleybus line and the new Yuzhniy Mikrorayon line. This photo is made in the middle of the workday, yet the Yuzhniy Mikrorayon-bound trolleybus carries a full load of passengers.
