Car 396 leaves the southern loop and turns onto the Severnaya Dvina Embankment, toward the Troitskiy Prospect and the city center. This tramway interchange is located in the Profsoyuzov Square, in-front of the Seaport Passenger Terminal.

A St.Petersburg-built car enters Profsoyuzov Pl. and the Severnaya Dvina Embankment at the southern mouth of Troitskiy Pr. The surrounding soil shook whenever heavy Soviet-era trams passed, even though this section of tracks was recently rebuilt.

At the time of this photo only three 2-car consists were found providing rush hour-only service via Line 2. Otherwise, the service was carried on by single cars only. Despite a popular charge of tramway infrastructure's deterioration along Troitskiy Prospect, which was the main excuse for closing the line, the southern section of Troitskiy Pr., between Voskresenskaya Ul. and Profsoyuzov Pl., was recently completely rebuilt in accordance with the latest track maintenance technology applied in Russia. Nevertheless, the line was torn out and dismantled about two years after this photo was taken. The second car 410 is the newest tram of RVZ-6M2 type in the city, delivered in 1987.

During the better days of Arkhangelsk tramways, a crowded 2-car train operates via Line 1 in this 1991 photo. Note a pre-reconstruction condition of the same stretch of track as above.

A private commercial midi-bus is about to overtake the tram in the city center, literally and figuratively speaking. This PAZ midi-buses will largely remain the only alternative to high-capacity trams after the latter ones will be gone.

Arkhangelsk's symbol and main attraction, the famous skyscraper in the heart of the city, with the city government offices in the background. Occupants of the latter building, known for their dislike for noisy passing trams, are largely responsible for strangulation of Arkhangelsk tramway network.

This 2-car set will be uncoupled a month later as the system cuts back on a number of trains in mid-2002. Many "professional" trailers such as the one pictured in this photo, were re-fitted for solo operation.

This train set will also be uncoupled a month later as a part of the uncoupling campaign mentioned above. During the last two years of service prior to the system's closure, LM-93 cars operated solo only. All but one former LM-93 motored trailers (with exception of 507), however, did not fare well as single motor cars, and after a brief period of solo operation, ended up parked at the Depot indefinitely. These cars were apparently mechanically overwhelmed after years of being pushed around as trailers. LM-93 motored trailers could be recognized by odd fleet numbers, while lead cars had even numbers.
