2-01. Kalinina Ul. between Tenistaya Ul. and Ignatyevskoe Shosse.
ZIU-682G 54. Line 2K City Center-bound.
Brightly painted in advertising colors trolleybus overtakes a railroad crossing as it leaves massive developments of new apartment blocks to the northwest of the city. Trolleybus in this photo is about to reach the split of the line at Tenistaya Ul., from where the central city trolleybus loop begins. The switch, however, is located far in advance of the intersection, to ensure safe passage of the railroad crossing.

2-03b. Ignatyevskoe Shosse between Kalinina Ul. and Dyachenko Ul.
ZIU-682G 55. Line 2V Main Railroad Station-bound.
The city-bound trolleybus serving Line 2V just completed a turn onto Ignatyevskoe Shosse (Highway) from Dyachenko Ul. At this point both Lines 2V and 2K go together, yet the city-bound stop for 2V is located prior to the intersection, while the stop for 2K is located after the intersection. Thus, trolleybus in this photograph overtakes the 2K stop in express mode. Upon the opening of the line to the northwestern suburb in 1984, and up until further extensions were built in 2000, trolleybuses only went as far as this intersection, at the very fringes of apartment block developments.

2-04a. Ignatyevskoe Shosse near Dyachenko Ul.
VMZ-170 02. Line 2K Oblastnaya Bolnitsa-bound.
Trolleybus approaches a split between two lines that encircle the northwestern development.

2-04b. Ignatyevskoe Shosse / Dyachenko Ul.
ZIU-682G 42. Line 2K City Center-bound.
The city-bound trolleybus serving Line 2K completes a straight move through the intersection via Ignatyevskoe Shosse. There are two consecutive loops encircling the large development of new apartment blocks in the northwest. The first one is a two-way loop, while the second one is a one-way loop. Trolleybuses serving Line 2K operate the first loop following a counterclockwise pattern. A 5 km. long trolleybus line comprising the western part of the first loop via Ignatyevskoe Shosse and Studencheskaya Ul., together with the complete second loop near Oblastnaya Bolnitsa, was opened in 2000.

2-04c. Ignatyevskoe Shosse / Dyachenko Ul.
ZIU-682G 48. Line 2V Main Railroad Station-bound.
Trolleybuses serving Line 2V operate the first of two loops in the northwest suburb following a clockwise pattern. Here, the city-bound trolleybus turns from Dyachenko Ul. onto Ignatyevskoe Shosse upon completing the loop.

2-05. Dyachenko Ul. between Ignatyevskoe Shosse and Institutskaya Ul.
ZIU-682G 48. Line 2V Main Railroad Station-bound.
A 2 km. long trolleybus line comprising the eastern part of the first loop via Dyachenko Ul. and Institutskaya Ul. was opened in 2003. As of the date of this photo, this was the newest trolleybus line in the city.
(21 Sep 2004, YM)
2-06. Dyachenko Ul. near Institutskaya Ul.
VMZ-170 01. Line 2V Main Railroad Station-bound.
The trajectory of Dyachenko Ul. is such that it practically takes trolleybuses back to the axis of Kalinina Ul. at the point where it leaves the city and becomes Novotroitskoe Shosse (highway). The area is not built up yet, which depending on where the camera is pointed at, provides for rather pastoral setting.

2-07. Institutskaya Ul. / Molodezhniy Pr., near the Harbin Stop.
ZIU-682V 40. Line 2V Main Railroad Station-bound.
Upon turning onto Institutskaya Ul., the line gets back into the city.
(15 Jul 2005, Alexandr Polsha)
2-08a. Studencheskaya Ul. / Institutskaya Ul.
ZIU-682V 39. Line 2V Oblastnaya Bolnitsa-bound.
Compliant with the clockwise pattern, outbound trolleybuses serving Line 2V operate the first loop via Studencheskaya Ul. Here trolleybus 39 is about to complete the first loop and turn onto Institutskaya Ul., where the second loop begins. The second loop in the northwestern suburb is a one-way installation, thus both Lines 2V and 2K follow it together, clockwise.

2-08b. Institutskaya Ul. / Studencheskaya Ul.
ZIU-682V 36. Line 2K Oblastnaya Bolnitsa-bound.
Compliant with the counterclockwise pattern, outbound trolleybuses serving Line 2K operate the first loop via Institutskaya Ul. Trolleybus 36 completes the first loop and continues straight via Institutskaya Ul. through the intersection at the beginning of the second loop.

2-09. The Oblastnaya Bolnitsa Terminal on Vasilenko Ul.
ZIU-682V 34. Line 2V.
Trolleybus briefly stops at the terminal stop. Due to continuous looping, there is no recovery time scheduled at the terminal.

ZIU-682G 52 in the front. Line 2K City Center-bound.
VMZ-170 04 in the back. Line 2V Main Railroad Station-bound.
Both trolleybuses just left the Oblastnaya Bolnitsa Terminal around the corner, and continue via the second loop.

ZIU-682G 44 in the front. Line 2K City Center-bound.
ZIU-682G 45 in the back. Line 2V Main Railroad Station-bound.
Trolleybuses serving both Lines 2K and 2V complete the second loop and return to the point of split between two suburban loops.
(15 Jul 2005, Alexandr Polsha)
2-12b. Studencheskaya Ul. / Institutskaya Ul.
VMZ-170 03. Line 2K City Center-bound.
Trolleybus serving Line 2K completes the second loop, and continues straight via Studencheskaya Ul., thus returning to the first loop, which it will follow counterclockwise.
(21 Sep 2004, YM)
2-12c. Studencheskaya Ul. / Institutskaya Ul.
ZIU-682G 48. Line 2V Main Railroad Station-bound.
Next, trolleybus serving Line 2V completes the second loop and turns from Studencheskaya Ul. onto Institutskaya Ul., thus returning to the first loop, which it is to follow clockwise.

2-12d. Institutskaya Ul./ Studencheskaya Ul.
ZIU-682G 48. Line 2V Main Railroad Station-bound.
Incidently, another correspondent catches up with the same vehicle serving the same line at the same intersection as above about a year later. This photo, is made after a turn is completed and 48 returns onto the first loop.
(15 Jul 2005, Alexandr Polsha)
2-02c. Ignatyevskoe Shosse / Kalinina Ul.

2-14. The Amur River with Chinese city of Heihe on the other side.

(21 Sep 2004, YM)
2-15. Not long ago Heihe was literally a large village. Upon getting rich off importing raw materials from Russia, converting those into functional products, and exporting the latter back to Russia, it evolved into a modern metropolis.

(21 Sep 2004, YM)
2-16. Zooming in on neighboring China.

(21 Sep 2004, YM)
2-17. Blagoveschensk is 146 years old. While its Chinese counterpart on the other side of the Amur River is busy making money, the city of Blagoveschensk is stuck in the dust of yesteryear, still remaining watchful of its neighbor, an outdated delusion from a turbulent past.
