1-01. Serova Ul. / Parkovaya Ul. near the Palace of Culture.
MTV-82 car 3. Pochta-bound.
One of the first 4-axle trams to run in Karpinsk. According to a long-standing tradition maintained in small towns in the northern Urals (Krasnoturyinsk, Karpinsk and Volchansk) that were blessed with tram networks simple enough not to require route numbering, the route display on cars is usually used for fleet numbers. At the time of this photo trams ran between Pochta and Bolnitsa Nomer 1 only, and the tramway loop around the city did not exist yet.

The main street also boasted a 1,6 km section of the double track on the reserved siding. The section between the Krasniy Gornyak movie theater and the tramway Depot (in this photo) was double-tracked in 1956, while the section between the Depot and Lesopilnaya Ul. was double-tracked in 1958.

The city is not fully developed yet, with vast open spaces in backyards. The photo is made during the height of tramway development, when the complete circular line around the city was finished, and both the Upravlenie Severnogo Razreza and the Karpinsk - Volchansk interurban line still operated.

Two trains meet at the Vodnaya passing point. The system was notorious for waits at passing points due to scheduling mismatches. This spot is the site of the former Bolnitsa Nomer 1 Loop that existed between 1950 and 1959. At the time when this photo was taken, the complete circular line around the city was already built, and trams operated via continuous clockwise and counterclockwise looping patterns.
