Ernst-Abbe-Platz Terminal
AEG GT6M
The terminal is located in the enclosed square inside the yard of the Friedrich Schiller University. There is a gate through the western building beyond the stub-end, in the direction to Muhtal, where trams went prior to 1969. The street geometry on the other side of the building, however, prevents any further extensions of the line.

At the time of this photo Line 4 was the main full time service toward Jena-Ost, but a transfer to a shuttle Line 2 was required half way through, at Geschwister-Scholl-Strasse. A few rush hour trips of Line 2, however, made it from Jena-Ost all the way to Holzmarkt, whilst operated by a single car only.

Dual track ends at Naumburger Strasse Stop. The last trailer is of Reko type. Unlike Gotha cars, it has single doors and 4 side windows, thus allowing for roomier passenger compartment and 4 extra seats. It is also somewhat higher, yet lacks any suspension. Both Gotha and Reko trailers were used equally, sometimes in the same consist.

A single car changes ends during a period when Line 2 was restricted to an isolated shuttle operation on the east side of the Saale River.
