Hauptbahnhof
Werdau
A severely modified tram from the very first batch of trams to operate in Naumburg. This very car was numbered 1 (re-numbered 6 in 1951) and was the first tram delivered to the town in 1906, as well as the last tram of this type to be withdrawn in 1957. The tram is pictured at the former passing point that was located in the middle of the square in-front of the Main Railroad Station. The passing point will be dismantled during the system's temporary closure between 1991-2006.

A train is about to turn onto Strasse der Jugend (nowadays Markgrefenweg) at the beginning of the western half of the former circular line around the city. This section will be dismantled while the system was closed between 1991-2006. The 1912 ex-Leipzig Werdau/VEB Gotha motor car 13 operated in Nordhausen between 1957-1976, while the 1908 ex-Halle Lindner trailer 2 at the time of this photo was one of only two trailers on the property, both of which operated 1958-1973.

Upon the re-opening of the line in 2006, the new stub-end terminal was created just around the corner from the square in-front of the Main Railroad Station. The stretch of the line via Bahnhofstrasse is built via the western curbside. Even though technically separated from other traffic, Hauptbahnhof-bound streetcars face opposing automobile traffic head-on.

School kids are a devoted constituency of the tram. Most stops along the line are located on one side of the track (the left side for Hauptbahnhof-bound trams). The curbside track alignment continues via the entire length of Bahnhofstrasse.

Track alignment on Poststrasse remains the same as it was before the rehab and the re-opening of the line in 2006, which makes this stretch the most genuine on the system. Hauptbahnhof-bound trams conflict head-on with oncoming automobile traffic.

Naumburg was next to the last system in Germany to operate trams with car bodies of LOWA type. These cars were in service until the temporary closure of the system in 1991. The city of Rostock was the last to operate similar cars, until 1992.

The Marienring Stop
Gotha ET54
Cars of ET54 type operated in regular service until the temporary closure of the system in 1991. Naumburg is considered the last city to employ such cars. This 1956 tram is the only specimen left on the property, preserved as a museum piece. There is also a matching trailer of EB50 type.

Tram fallows the ring road around the historic center via the newest section of the line. This stretch was opened in 1982 to substitute for the stretch through the historic city and Markt, closed in 1976. The closure of the Markt section effectively broke the circular pattern of the Naumburg's only tram line, thus, between 1976-1982 trams operated via the extended semicircle.

A trailer is out on the line for the tram parade. As of the date of this photo the use of trailers was not warranted by passenger patronage. Moreover, due to the single-track stub-end design of the Vogelwiese Terminal, upon the re-opening of the line in 2006 trailers could not be operated under normal circumstances.
