A single-track heritage tramway line, that assumes a role of a regular public transit line. The line links most popular tourist destinations, including the city beach at the western terminal. There are 3 passing points. Two motor+trailer tram consists (out of three available) of MAN and Duewag cars from the 1950-60s are used at all times, operating on a 30 min. interval. Trams by-pass one other at the central Cumhuriyet Meydani stop and passing point. The line is designed to potentially operate with 4 trams on a 15 min. interval. There is an on-board fare collection via an electronic fare card reader located near driver’s position in a motor car, or at conductor’s position in a trailer – in both cases boarding is through the front door. Standard electronic fare cards are used, the same as for Light Rail and buses. For tourists’ convenience, however, on this line only payment is also accepted in cash, with drivers or conductors swiping a company-issued card as a validation for each entry. Conductors in trailers are employed on busy daytime runs only, hence, trailers are not opened to public on morning and evening runs. Stop request buttons are not used, trams make stops at each station. The heritage tramway line and the new light rail line do pass through the same intersection in the city center, however, they do not cross, nor there is a hard rail connection between the two.
