Central Trolleybus Lines

Sovetskaya Ulitsa
Lines 51, 52, 54, 56, 57, 58.
The main west-east trolleybus corridor through the city center [map]. A rather odd feature are two 180 degree turnarounds in the middle of city’s main thoroughfare, both used in regular service.

Avtovokzal Line
Lines 51, 53, 54 (formerly 55).
A part of the city’s first trolleybus line between the city center and Dom Oborony [map], opened in 25.01.1962. The trolleybus depot opened past Dom Oborony terminal in 1966. The line was extended from Dom Oborony to Avtovokzal (the Main Bus Station) in 1976 via a unique trolleybus-only roadway parallel Oboronnaya Ul. The latter was taken over by a park in the 1990s, with the trolleybus line pushed to a nameless alleyway behind the park, and trolleybuses terminating in the back yard of the Bus Station. The Avtovokzal terminal loop was realigned yet again in 2007 to make way for a Bus Station’s expansion. A dispatch building at the terminal was refurbished into a small hotel.
