In 1994 the system became the third undertaking (out of a total of three, following Lugansk and Moscow) to operate LT-10 trams built by the railroad locomotive manufacturer Luganskteplovoz, located in the neighboring city of Lugansk.

LT-10 trams were too wide, too heavy, too unreliable and too complicated to maintain. They were abandoned in 1997, and officially written off in 2007.

3 modern low floor Russian-built KTM-23-02 trams were delivered 11.2012: 2 trams were a gift from the local major pollutant, the company operating the steel mill; 1 tram was a gift from a private fund run by a successful businessmen of local decent (and formerly questionable reputation).

At the time of this photo the system had a two-fold rolling stock surplus. However, owing to recent economic difficulties and delays with wage payouts, many qualified workers were lost, hence, there were not enough staff to drive and maintain trams.
