Map with photo locations

2-01. Lambert Airport-bound train passing through depressed areas of town near the Wellston Station via the former right-of-way of the Norfolk Southern railroad. All at-grade crossings along the line are gated. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-02. Westbound train on the viaduct near Florissant Rd. At this point the line branches of the former railroad corridor. The viaduct actually consists of two viaducts joined by the grid over open space between them (one can see through the grid in this photo). (19-June-2005, YM)
2-03. Eastbound train leaves the University of Missouri - St. Louis North Station. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-03. The University of Missouri - St. Louis North Station is attached directly to the campus. Train in this photo heads toward the airport. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-03. The following warning signs jointly guard the entrance to the civilian public transit station: 'Track crossing, look both ways before crossing'; 'Smokers, no smoking beyond this area, put 'em here'; and 'Concealed weapons prohibited on these premises, law enforcement & security personnel exempt'. No further comments. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-04. Airport-bound train enters the tunnel between the University North Station and the North Hanley Station. The tunnel is new, built specifically to accommodate the light rail line. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-05. Airport-bound train on the viaduct between the University North Station and the North Hanley Station in the vicinity of Geiger Rd. The viaduct is built to cope with local terrain and is not designed as a crossing. It cuts Geiger Rd in two sections. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-06. Airport-bound train approaches the North Hanley Station. From this point on the line follows the I-70 corridor, the expressway itself is visible in the background. This train consists of the newest Siemens-Duewag SD460 cars of the 4000 series, cars 4003+4004, the highest car numbers noted in service. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-07. A viaduct high above freeway at the junction of I-70 and I-170, between the airport and the North Hanley station. This photo is taken from eastbound train. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-08. The viaduct carrying the Light Rail Line in the vicinity of the airport. (10-Feb-2003, Stefan Mashkewich)
2-09. Airport-bound train approaches the last stop, Lambert Airport Main, via elevated right-of-way over the airport property. This train just crossed onto the 'wrong' track prior to entering the terminal. The destination sign is already changed for the return trip. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-10. Train 1021+1002 faces a stub end at the Lambert Airport Main Terminal. 1002 will be the oldest car noted in service. It was not coupled with the system's oldest car 1001 as one might expect, but car 1021 instead (front car in this photo). (19-June-2005, YM)
2-10. A pavilion on the roof of the main building of the airport with the airport tower in the background. (19-June-2005, YM)
2-10. In 2003 some trips were made only as far as the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center, see the destination sign of this train, ready to depart the Lambert Airport Main Terminal. (10-Feb-2003, Stefan Mashkewich)
