| 14-01b. Lenina Pl. at Troitskiy Pr. / Voskresenskaya Ul. ZIU-682V 88 Line 3, Gagarina-bound. Leaving the Petrovskiy Park Terminal loop, built around the square in the background. A classic Arkhangelsk ZIU trolleybus crosses the doomed tramway line on Troitskiy Pr., in-front of city government buildings that surround the main Lenina Square. In 2002 Line 3 operating on a 15-20 min. headway was the only trolleybus service left via the major Voskresenskaya Ul., previously the sight for three services, Lines 2, 3 and 4. Line 3 will be suspended a month later, in July 2002, but will come back again sometime later. (YM, 14 Jun 2002) |
| 14-06a. Lenina Pl. at Voskresenskaya Ul. / Troitskiy Pr. Skoda 14Tr 08 (ex-Plzen 406) Line 3, Gagarina-bound. The trolleybus enterprise was sold into private ownership on 09.2005. Seven second-hand Skoda trolleybuses were acquired from the Czech Republic on 05.2005. In this photo one colorful specimen is entering the loop squeezed between Troitskiy Pr. and the Severnaya Dvina River. A fresh asphalt paved over tramway tracks on Troitskiy Prospect and a PAZ midi-bus substituting for trams are visible in the background. Even though dating from 1988, Skoda trolleybuses are considered somewhat grander than their Russian counterparts, so most were assigned to operate Line 3, the only means of electric transport still penetrating the city center. At the time this photo was taken in 2006, it was reported that Line 3 was operated on a 5-6 min. headway despite a meager ridership. Thus, it operated as often as Line 5, which was always considered the key trolleybus service in the city. The only vehicle still boasting classic red-and-cream Skoda color scheme. | 14-10. Voskresenskaya Ul. / Timme Ul. ZIU-682V 81 Line 6, Galushina-bound. Trolleybus on the very Soviet-looking Voskresenskaya Ul., the city's premier artery that connects Lenina Square and the Main Railroad Station. (Aleksandr Morozov, July 2002) |
| 14-11a. The Main Railroad Station Terminal. Jelcz / Nordtroll TEA-120M 107 Line 6. As many as five services, Lines 1, 2, 3, 5A and 6, terminated here at the point of highest trolleybus service level back in 1991. At the time when this photograph was taken in 2002, only Line 6 remained, operating on a 15-20 min. headway. This too was suspended for some time around 2003, but the Line did come back later. During that period Line 5 was the only trolleybus service operating in Arkhangelsk, and to city's embarrassment, the Main Railroad Station remained without trolleybus services at all.
